Carrera Blast Junior Mountain Bike

Is A Carrera Blast Jr Mountain Bike A Good Introduction To The Brand?

Carrera Blast Junior Mountain BikeAs kids’ bikes go, the Carrera Blast Junior Mountain Bike isn’t the cheapest.

It would be easy to find something from a cheaper name that is fine for a couple of years.

But, there is a good reputation with the Carrera name that makes this more interesting. Does this have the quality needed to make it worth the cost?

The Pros and Cons of this Carrera Blast Junior Mountain Bike.

Pros:

  •  There is a specification that isn’t too dissimilar to the adult Carrera bikes.
  •  There are nice touches to make this a great learning tool for 8-11-year-olds.
  •  The quality is better than some other cheaper kids’ mountain bikes.

Cons:

  •  There are some occasional problems with faults and breakages with gears and pedals.
  •  The higher price tag could be an issue for some parents.

There is a nice look and high-performance specification with this Carrera Blast Junior Mountain Bike.

There are some nice features here for an MTB designed for kids aged 8-11.

It all begins with the 21 gear system, which is more than most bikes and continues with the Clarks Cable disc brakes, air-filled Vee Crown Gem tyres on the 24’’ wheels, and the Shimano Revoshift system for changing gears. There is also a nice front suspension system.

Carrera Blast Mountain Bike

Carrera is a good name and this one looks like a miniature version of other adult models. The bold red frame is a nice touch and it is great to see this in a lighter aluminium rather than the steel of other kids’ bikes.

Most find this is smooth and a nice introduction for both boys and girls.

The Carrera Blast Junior is pricier but there are fewer issues with breakages.

There are some understandable pros and cons in going for something at this price point. This isn’t a cheap transitional bike in the same way as some others.

But, you don’t get as many complaints about faults as you would with other cheaper bikes. With that said, there are times when the gears have shifted and the system hasn’t been reliable.

Others have noted problems with the brakes and with pedals coming off. This is a shame for such a high-end model from such a popular brand. But, there is no guarantee that this will happen.

Is this Carrera Blast Kids’ Mountain Bike a better choice with so few negatives to consider?

The main selling point here isn’t so much the specification as the wealth of positive reviews from parents. This is something that you don’t always see with these kids’ bikes, as there are often kids itching to ride and parents moaning about assembly or quality issues.

Instead, you get a higher quality product for that higher price. If you are happy to pay this much for a bike your child will eventually grow out of – and maybe have other kids to pass it on to.

And you should see the value in the specification and performance offered. The Carrera mountain bike is a pleasant surprise.
