Is A Challenge Conquer Mountain Bike A Good First Men’s Mountain Bike?

Challenge Conquer 26 inch Wheel Size Mens Mountain BikeThe name “Conquer” in the Challenge Conquer Mountain Bike conjures images of inexperienced mountain bikers getting to grips with this new model and conquering both the terrain and their own confidence issues.

The Pros and Cons of this Challenge Conquer 26 inch Wheel Size Mens Mountain Bike.

Pros:

  •  The are six gears with thumb shifters to help you on your new adventures
  •  You also get decent V-type brakes to enhance the handling
  •  The steel frame isn’t as heavy as expected

Cons:

  •  There isn’t much suspension here for a true mountain bike experience
  •  It might also be a good idea to upgrade the tyres

The Challenge Conquer Mountain Bike has some nice basic components that new riders can appreciate.

Let’s start with the basic spec and how this can help those that are complete novices. The main selling point of the Challenge mountain bike has to be the 6-gear system that offers just enough variation so you can handle different terrains and pick up some speed.

These are paired with simple thumb shifters for better control. Improved handling then comes from the use of V-brakes on the front and rear wheels.

Nothing is amazing about this specification, but that can make it a bit more accessible to those just starting out.

Then there is the geometry and weight of the attractive blue frame. This isn’t the sportiest mountain bike but it is far from impractical or ugly.

The use of steel gives it some strength and durability and the overall weight isn’t as high as it could be.

The problem with this beginner Challenge Men’s Bike bike is that it only just qualifies as a mountain bike.

There are certain aspects of the specification that keen mountain bikers look out for when choosing a new model. One of the most important is the suspension, with users looking for the most comfortable landing possible for their jumps.

Here there isn’t much suspension at all so you could be in for a bumpy landing at times. Then there are the tyres. A good grip is a must on dusty tracks.

Here you get “mountain-bike style” CST tyres, which immediately suggests that they aren’t the best choice out there.

What does this all mean for the final verdict on this Challenge Conquer MTB?

There are limitations to the specification as it stands. You only get the bare minimum in features and components to give you a taste of off-road riding.

There will be cases where this is enough as this acts more as a multi-purpose bike for different environments and gentle use.

However, there will be plenty of other riders that will benefit from putting in some extra money and work to upgrade this bicycle.

Some additional suspension and some new tyres would go a long way and your overall cost could still be less than many other bikes. There is still potential in this Challenge mountain bike – it just all depends on how you plan to use it.
