Challenge Regent Womens Mountain Bike

Can The Challenge Regent Mountain Bike Teach You To Ride?

Challenge Regent 26 inch Wheel Size Womens Mountain BikeThe prospect of getting a good mountain bike under £100 sounds impossible, but that is what is promised with the Challenge Regent Mountain Bike.

This budget bike looks like a good first-ever bike for women with a nice shape and talk of a reliable performance when getting from A to B.

Naturally, there are some concerns that it won’t have the specification to back this up. So, what do you get?

The Pros and Cons of this Challenge Regent Womens Mountain Bike.

Pros:

  •  Just enough gears to get started with a nice shifter
  •  Nice handling and braking on basic trails and roads
  •  The frame looks pretty good and is lighter than expected

Cons:

  •  The suspension is barely there, which limits this bike as a mountain bike
  •  Some taller women have struggled with the height adjustments

The Challenge Regent Mountain Bike has some nice entry-level features to bring in first-time riders.

There is a definite focus in the specification on ease of use for novice riders. You get six gears with simple trigger shifters to switch between options as needed.

It isn’t a lot compared to other bikes, but it is enough to get started with as you switch between terrains on different afternoon rides.

You also get some basic V-type brakes, CST tyres, and simple finishing touches for comfort. There is nothing from any big names, such as Shimano, but it is good enough quality for now.

Another benefit here is the clean look to the paintwork on the steel frame. The brand isn’t trying too hard to make something that looks sportier than it is.

But the white and green colour combination is still attractive. Furthermore, the steel frame is 14kg, so not as heavy as it could have been.

The problem is that the Challenge Regent isn’t that great as a true mountain bike.

There is a review from an online buyer that really sticks out here. They say that this is a great bike for adults learning to ride on flat, simple terrain, but not good for off-road trails. This is because of the lack of suspension.

It is too rigid and uncomfortable. There are also warnings that the Challenge mountain bike may not be suitable for taller riders. You can adjust the handlebars and seat post to get a better posture when riding, but this seems to have its limitations.

Should you still consider this Challenge Women’s Mountain Bike with these issues in mind?

There are some issues to consider here if you are looking for a capable mountain bicycle for off-road adventures. The suspension and low-end specification will only get you so far on bumpier tracks.

However, there is enough here that you can use this MTB as more of a multipurpose option for riding around in the country or around town.

You aren’t going to outride anyone on this budget bike, but that isn’t the point. Instead, the Challenge bike proves to be a decent beginners model for those starting from absolute zero.
