RockRider ST 120 Mountain Bike

Does The Unisex RockRider ST 120 Mountain Bike Appeal To All?

RockRider ST 120 Mountain BikeThe RockRider ST 120 Mountain Bike initially stands out for two reasons: the low cost and the unisex design.

There isn’t much to jump out at experience riders here, but enough for those starting out with their first mountain bike.

So, is this a good first bike for a wider demographic of riders?

The Pros and Cons of this RockRider ST 120 Mountain Bike.

Pros:

  •  The accessibility of the unisex design for all riders.
  •  The further accessibility in the level of components in the specification.
  •  A 100% aluminium frame to reduce the weight.

Cons:

  •  Some elements are lacking when it comes to adrenaline-fuelled rides, such as the suspension and speeds.
  •  Others are lower-grade and may require upgrades.

The RockRider ST 120 Mountain Bike has some nice features in a clever unisex design.

Let’s start with the basic specification of this RockRider mountain bike. A key feature here is the 100% aluminium frame to lighten the build and add speed, which is something you don’t always get at this price point.

From there, you can take advantage of the flex seat post, the stopping power of the Tektro TKD 68 160mm disc brakes, and the quick-release wheel.

You also get some extras like the bell, lights, and reflectors, as well as an adaptable frame for guards and other accessories at a later date.

What does stand out here is that focus on unisex design and the accessibility this brings for all riders. This is a frame for anyone, so you can ride without worrying about any restrictions on the performance of a women’s bike or extras on a men’s bike.

It is also a nice gender-neutral design with deep black and a little blue branding. Just be aware that there is a warning to get the right saddle for those with female anatomy.

There are still some limitations to the RockRider ST 120 MTB for keen riders.

We have to remember that this MTB is picked out for its unisex style and its lower price more than anything else. So, we have to assume that some elements aren’t as good as others to keep the costs down.

This is clear in the use of the standard resin pedals. The tyres on the 27.5’’ wheels also seem a bit basic for the intended purpose.

You could also find that the speed options are lacking compared to other mountain bicycles with only 9 speeds. Also, this is a semi-stiff model for less-experienced riders with a front suspension system only.

Is the RockRider Unisex Mountain Bike still recommendable with these pros and cons in mind?

There are different ways to look at this product. On the one hand, you have a product that means the bare minimum with the specification for riders that don’t want anything extreme.

Here, it meets expectations for the price point while still offering a good ride and that accessible unisex design.

On the other hand, you have a product that is lacking in top-quality features but has the potential for upgrades if you can spend a little more at a later date. This means that you can’t actually go too wrong with the RockRider mountain bike.
